I've had tinnitus and benign essential tremor for over twenty years and have tried everything both alopathic and alternative. Finally after having a vasectomy and being given an opiate I realized that it calmed the noise in my head and stopped the tremor.
Before that I was drinking heavily and my doctor prescribed hydrocodone which was compounded to avoid additives. I took that for about three years. After seeing a psychiatrist at the advice of my primary care physician to see if this course of action was appropriate for me I was put on oxycodone, 30 mg. a day in 5 mg. doses. This seems to work fine but like all opiates my doctor says I will always want more.
My question is this, if I have to choose between either being crazy and not sleeping, drinking heavily, or taking oxycodone, which is the best way for me to go. Here is a list of the things I've tried.
hypnosis, acupuncture, manipulation, herbal remedies, councilling, the Jasterboff program for treating tinnitus, neurofeedback and neuro-stimulation, hearing aids and probably some more I can't remember now. Too many ENT docs to list.
Thanks
