Iron

I am taking prenatal vitamins and another vitamin.  The prenatal contains 28mg    156% (as ferrous fumarate)  and the other contains 8mg 44 percent  (as iron amino acid chelate).   The prenatal vitamin is taken once a day and the other twice a day.  I do eat meat.  I am wondering if this is too much iron that can lead to iron overdose.  I am also wondering if the iron is absorbed into my breastmilk and if it is too much for my baby.

Also is there any other vitamins or minerals that are harmful to infants or possibly harmful to me in high dosages?  Or is there any other vitamins or minerals that could be passed down to the baby through the breast milk and harm the baby?

Why are you taking so much iron? Do you have Iron deficiency anemia?
I suggest you only take a daily multi-vitamin if you want to take supplements and not mega doses. The nutrients should be coming from your food sources because you need the nutrients and calories for breastfeeding. Thank you for your question.
