celiac

I have been recently been diagnosed with celaic disease and have ADD and with that I have some anxiety problems.  I was on Straterra and Effexor but was able to wean myself off of them (the most horrible month of my life!!!).  The diet that celiacs have to have has helped with the add and anxiety both but when I went off the medicine completely in the middle of October I have gained about 20lbs in a month.  I never gained or lost weight when I went on the medicine like others do so gaining when I went off has me baffled.  I consume about 2000 plus or minus calories a day and have gained this in a month and a half.  I have recently stopped eating rice and potatoes due to the amount of starch in the foods and the tendancy for the body to store the sugars in them as fat.  My activity level fluctuates through out the year but I don't believe that Anyone should be packing on this amount of weight this quickly.  What foods can I eat to boost my metabolism or loose the weight.

People can use food to comfort themselves from stress, etc. If you want to loss weight, it is eating healthy and exercise. All you need to do is increase your physical activities to 1/2 hour a day. That 1/2-hour can be broken up through the day, 10 minutes here and 20 minutes there. For example, park your car in the back of the parking lot and walk to the store. That will give you additional walking. The foods you eat should come from other the food groups multi-grains (not wheat), fruits and dairy / meat. Portion control is important and here some general tips = ½ cup for all starches and vegetables; one piece of fruit or ½ cup of small fruits; 1 cup for low fat dairy products, and only 3oz of low fat meat or protein substitution a meal (only 6ozs total a day). To help eat less food pre meal, eat about 7-10 almonds, 20 minutes before lunch and dinner so you will feel full faster and not eat as much food.  Do not be discouraged, weight loss can be a slow process but the slower you loss, the higher chance it will stay off. Think of this new way of eating as your new healthy lifestyle and not as a diet. That will help you to keep your weight off, and keep your body healthy. Thank you for your question.
