Racing and none stop thoughts

Can OCD cause your mind to not shut off at all when you are trying to sleep? Because right now i am kind of tired ,i want to sleep but random thoughts, songs, trivia, and what not keep popping in and out of my head.

I too suffer from non-stop, racing thoughts when I try to sleep.  It has really been causing me a lot of stress because sleep is so very important for our mental health.  I try to find something positive or happy to think about but keep finding my brain going right back to my obsessions.  Talk about control.  These thoughts have complete control over me and it's so depressing.  If you are able to, take the medication as rainlover described.  If not, I would suggest getting out of bed when the mind is racing and do something else for a bit.  When you return to bed, maybe you will be more tired and actually be able to fall asleep.

I believe it can Michael.Have you tried some of the long--half life benzos. They are excellent to help you relax and some can assist with sleep aswell.OCD can make the mind race and not shut down the thought process so you can sleep.Think about this next time you see your doctor and ask him about this.
