Ways to help severe nail biting

I'm a 14 yr old girl with a great life most of the time, not much drama and i do well at school with stress only during the really big tests so i dont understand why i bite my nails and do so till they bleed. I've bitten my nails since i was little and recently I have been trying everything i can think of to stop. The one main thing I've figured out is this addiction to biting my nails overcomes my willpower. I will stop for maybe a month and see my nails getting better but they feel awkward to me because I've never had them or I'll get them caught on something or i just have a bad urge to bite again and i will. The bitter nail polish doesn't help i got use to it and gloves i dont even wear because my nails snag the inside and bothers me. I want to quit but I can't find anything to help. I also tried self manicures and that worked for a little bit before i started back but I can't keep the habit gone. I've looked up how to quit and one thing i keep running into is hypnosis but i dont want to waste any of my mom's money but i think it might help. Cna you give me advice i need it.

If you feel the need to crew, maybe try chewing on a ice block stick, or plastic straw or lollie pop stick, though be careful as you don't want to choke on it or eat it. Maybe also trt giving it a break and not doing it all the time as i think that is when i have problems like you have said with gum.
If this doesn't help maybe talking to your doctor, or school councilor, parents and friends for other ideas.

I'll try the manicure thing mixed with the nasty polish maybe i can quit but I'm also thinking while it may be it's own problem i also think i have an oral fixation because i alsways want something to bite of have in my mouth but gum is bad for me because my jaw likes to lock up and start hurting when i chew it. Any suggestions?

How strong are your nails? Because i bit my nails most of my life but now after taking calcium and magnesium products from Usana my nails grow for the first time they are longer than ever, some how that has broken my compulsion to pick at them and bit them.
But i personalty think that nail biting is cause by anxiety and maybe a boredom thing and then becomes habit. They say it takes two weeks to break a habit so if you can find a way that works for you, which takes to two weeks it should get better and if you see your nails getting stronger and longer it is supper rewarding. I know you can back into the habit but when the nails are strong they do not rip so easily so that they stay looking nice, and i know how weird at first it feels to have long nails.

Not really sure if that's helpful but Good Luck
