Back surgery

I am a 73 year old female with spinal stenosis, with misalignment of 4th and 5th verterbrae.  I have been advised by my neurosurgeon that I should consider surgery, which would involve spinal fusion.  After looking at all possibilities, negative and positive, I am wondering if I should be considering this procedure.  I would like input from others who have had this surgery.  I am in pretty good health, otherwise.

Hi,
Since your pain is very severe and must be effecting your quality of life, you should consider undergoing surgery.

Do you experience any numbness, tingling sensations? if yes, how severe are they?

Extreme pain in lower back and legs when walking or standing.  Pain is reduced when leaning or sitting.  On a scale from 1 to 10, I would say it is an 8.  I take 600 mg neurontin 3 times a day.

Hi Jo,

The desicion to go ahead for surgery will depend on the severity of symptoms experienced by you. You are otherwise healthy, but let me know the severity of symptoms you have?
