CT of Cervical Spine

I have a Brantigan cage C2 to C7.  C1 was fractured also.  I waited 3 years for neck surgery to be done.  It was done in 1997.  I have just learned about the C1 fracture because I am having some problems with neck and head pain.  In addition, I have nausea and vomiting, sweating, and muscle shakes.  Needless to say, sever muscle spasms will make you go to the Dr..

The radiology report states "Sagittal images suggest a defect to the right side of the more anterior aspect of the posterior arch of C1.  This is consistent with a sub-acute, or chronic fracture although previous MRI on the bone detail is not well evaluated.

Ummmmmm...what the ch*t are they saying??  I didn't take this class in school!!  Help!!

Thank you for your input!  I went to an oral surgeon today.  My tongue is numb, and my lip.  I have been clenching my teeth also.  The Doctor said the problem was from the upper part of the neck.  What type of surgeon should I see?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi there!

The report mentions a fracture in the first (C1) cervical vertebra, which could be recent or long term and suggests comparison with previously taken imaging studies. You may consider discussing this in detail with your treating doctor (orthopedician/ neurologist/ neurosurgeon).
Hope this helps.

Take care!
