Dislocated fibula head

I have a dislocated fibula head.  I spoke to a surgeon and wasn't to happy with what he had to say.  What are my options?

My right fibula head has partially dislocated twice and the pain is excruciating. All I know to do is wrap it and keep pulling and adjusting the wrap until the bone goes back into place. I am afraid it will continue to do this and will have to have something done. That knee has been operated on twice and that may be part of the problem too. I just know that I never want to go through that pain again.

Hi,
Thanks for writing in. Isolated fractures and dislocation of fibula are very rare. Because, it is not a weight bearing one and well covered with muscles, usually it holds less importance.
Dislocations are usually initially immobilized and monitored for few weeks, if not corrected, then treated by open reduction method, and the leg is immobilized in an above the knee plaster slab. Reduction is checked by x-rays.
Take a second opinion of a orthopaedician.
Take care.
