Hamstring Issue

So for about a year and a half I've had a pain at the top of my hamstring and deep glute pain during squats deadlifts and lunges.  I finally had enough and went to an orthopedic and had an MRI. The doctor stated that my hamstring is pulling on the skin that covers the bone (where the top hamstring attaches to the bone). He said it's becoming chronically inflamed and recommended 6 weeks of rehab along with a prescription anti inflamatory meds.  My question is should I still be rolling and aggressively stretching this area everyday or should I be letting it rest and recover?

Thanks you very much for the answer. Any reason you can think of as to why my doctor would describe it this way instead of calling it a tendon and tendinitis?  That seems so much simpler.

That "skin" you speak of is called a tendon. A tendon connects muscle to bone. The pain your feeling is from tendonitis -- an inflammatory process of the tendon -- and its treatment involves rest.

No, you should not be doing these activities as they will continue to aggravate your tendonitis.
