Pain behind toes in ball of foot 2 months after injury

Hi,
I'm 50, but when I was still just 49 a whole 2 months ago, I kicked the end of a piece of 2x4 to knock it down, but another piece slipped and lodged behind as my foot swung in and blocked the wood from moving at all. Had a sneaker on and slammed into the end of the 2x4 with the ball of my foot (behind the toes). It's not awful, but not good either. No visible bruise, (but I don't bruise easily) or damage but hurts when my weight shifts as I walk on it. Feels same today as it did the day after it happened. General ache pain across from side to side, mostly around the center couple inches, but doesn't feel like a pinpoint or loose bone. Doesn't sting.
How long could this type of pain last.., assuming there is no bone damage?

Thanks for any tips or suggestions.
-Steve
