Uncommon hip pain

Hi, I've been suffering a painful hip for quite a few weeks now, my GP says it is a torn Ischiofemoral ligament, or something like that, but he is no specialist. I am still waiting for the physio to contact me, although I am not holding my breath!

I've looked all round the web for anyone displaying similar symptoms as me, but to no avail. When I am sat down and resting, I get hardly any pain at all (probably due to the amount of ibuprofen I've been taking), but when I stand up for any amount of time the pain grows to the point of being unbearable. It is a little painful the start walking anywhere and if I have to stop and wait while stood, ie picking up the kids from school, again the pain grows. When a get home and sit down, the pain resides after a few minutes.

The pain is not local to the hip, it can appear in either the buttock area or my entire right leg, especially the muscle in front of my calf. There is no single area I can 'touch' that is painful within the hip itself.

I 'think' this started after riding my motorbike and rotating my knee outwards to lean into a corner.

Does anyone recognise these symptoms? I ask as I am unsure wether I should be exercising or resting and don't wish to hamper recovery by doing the wrong thing.

I travelled 75 miles today today to help my sister move out from her ex. Every upright moment is causing excrusitating pain now. I can sit and the pain gos away, everytime I stand and move is awful. Under load, my hip feels like it is going to explode. What the hell is going on? So many weeks now I have lived with this..
