What does mild nonspecific superficial subcutaneous edema about the hindfoot and midfoot mean.

Hi there!

Edema refers to a swelling caused due to fluid accumulation in the connective tissue. When it occurs in the subcutaneous tissue (beneath the skin) it is referred to as superficial. ‘Non-specific’ probably means that the etiology or the cause of the swelling is not known.
