Is there anyway they can perform the operation free on the nhs?? I'm 23 and i'm pretty sure my bowed legs are getting worse am i at risk of my cartilage getting worn away? what if i was to wear an insole in my trainer/shoe can this help to correctly align my leg? or some sort of discreet brace on my knees? I've read into osteotomy. Do they usually perform these sorts of procedures on 23 year olds? ##

Look forward to hearing back from you

thanks

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello!

Bowlegs often develop in children as a normal part of their growth and development.

It is important for your orthopedician to understand your age and whether you had vitamin D deficiency or any other deficiency.

However, if your bow legs were caused by a trauma, skeletal deformity, or bone disease, it may warrant immediate medical treatment. Discuss all options with an orthopedician and if the deformity cannot be corrected or adjusted then you may need surgical correction.

Take care!
