Shoulder injury with 'clear' MRI

I hurt my shoulder at work several month's ago by being thrown backwards off a piece of equipment (think holding onto a vertical railing with just right arm at 10-15mph with deceleration like you hit a wall). Worker's comp doctor did X-rays, but didn't show anything (that I was told of that was applicable at least); He ordered an MRI (which I finally got after 2 months.... of 'dancing' with WC/Insurance, through health insurance); but they says its clear and ordered Physical Therapy for a sprain (which hasn't started yet).

This incident happened 3 month's ago, and the initial pain was not extreme (felt like a light bruise) and only hurt when arms were behind back (like putting on a coat). The pain started to get so severe that I couldn't even raise my right arm after 2-3 weeks so the company decided to then send me to WC-doc.
WC-Doc prescribed Prednisone (the decreasing dosage pack thing) and Lortab (which work denied me access to, because its against their policy for me to do thier light duty job while taking it..?, but it still took nearly 2 weeks to get the predn.). Their was a great deal of pain relieved from the Predn, but there's still a very sharp pain when arm is raised or reaching back slightly.
After 6~ weeks of doing the 'dance' to get the MRI, the Health Ins Doc says the MRI is clear and ordered Physical Therapy for a sprain. I've had many sprains in my life, none of which even remotely come close to the level of pain from using my arm even with the most minor of tasks (Pressing a marker against something to write a couple letters on it, for 8-12 hrs... and I'm almost in tears; with the new Doc prescribing Aleve 500g which does nothing). Just having my arm dangle unsupported to my side for several hours makes it start throbbing, and light pressure (like arms against a wall leaning forward lightly) helps a lot but doesn't stop the pain entirely.

Should I be asking something else? Getting massive amounts of pressure from work to resume my normal duties, but I can't even fathom the amount of pain that is going to cause; and a diagnosis of a 'sprain' that hasn't healed for 3 month's... might as well be a resignation (which will end health insurance, which will end Physical therapy before it even starts, which will leave me with an untreated shoulder problem making me unable to find a new job which leaves me at the homeless shelter? ....eventually)

Thanks Kurizu. I had intended to start PT as soon as it was authorized, was just wondering if there was something I was missing (I'm known for not articulating my thoughts well on the spot :p)

You have to consult a physical therapist to rule out adhesive capsulitis or rotator cuff tendinitis.

I would recommend you start physical therapy treatments right away to prevent complications such as increasing pain and limitation of motion, and disuse atrophy of the shoulder joint.

In the meantime, I would advise using hot compress on the shoulder for 20 minutes twice or thrice a day to minimize the pain.
