Hi,

I am so sorry to hear about the problems your husband has had since his surgery.  Spinal Stenosis is a very difficult condition to manage & most people assume that having surgery done will "cure" it.  Unfortunately that is rarely the case.
What type of surgery did he have? I ask because there are several different options available & really depends on the location of the stenosis as well as the severity.  I had L5-S1 decompression done in 2006 & was fine when I woke up.  Within 5 days I had a horrible infection that was causing me to bleed out over a liter a day through my incision site & threatened to cause some permanent damage.  The surgery itself provided little to no relief & now 5 years later I'm waiting & debating on redoing it.

I have never heard of anyone waking up paralyzed, but it honestly doesn't surprise me as they are playing around with your spine & 1 little slip up could cause such damage.  Have the doctors provided you with any answers as to why it's happened? What are they doing to help him?

I am glad to hear that he is improving, that will take awhile, but it never should have happened to start with.

PLEASE keep me updated on his progress & I will keep you both in my thoughts.  I actually just started a group on here for people who suffer from Spinal Stenosis & their families.  It's a work in progress as I still suffer from it, have 2 children & am currently pregnant, but I hope it will be of help to someone.  If interested in joining you can either message me or search USER GROUPS under FORUMS for SPINAL STENOSIS SUFFERERS.
