Always lurking, never far off
The dragon waits to breathe fire into my body
Able to reduce me to a pile of bones without warning
Despite the bravado in my words and deeds,
The dragon never leaves my mind
A constant reminder that I am not in charge
Someday I will make it my companion
And permanently engrave the image
So that it may keep me company in plain sight.
