At the beginning I had radiology do my drainings a few times and they were much MUCH better than the gyn oc. people. they used sonography to guide the way and were slower and more gentle. This was before the pleurex cath. which just stayed in (which pulminary eventually placed). If they are offering this to your mom I think it is a good thing honestly.
If your Mom is at Moffitt, Moffitt should handle as aspects of her treatment.

I didn't know that radiologists did ascites draining. Please let us know how your mom is doing after the procedure. We know how uncomfortable she has been. When the ascites are gone I think she'll feel much better.
What type of procedure does the primary care physician want the radiologist to do?
