I'm sorry I misread your post - of course you are worried and hopefully you will get a good report. I agree that the surgeon saying it "looked benign" means nothing. My dr told me after she removed my ovary that everything looked great - it may have looked great, but the path report still said early stage cancer and I had a hysterectomy. I'll be praying for a clear report for you next week and please let us know how it goes. Chris
I don't know yet if it was benign, a frozen section wasn't done and my surgeon wasn't an oncologist so it's wait and see time, he said it 'looked' ok but we wont know til next week
I am not sure about the cyst terminolgy (sp?) you had but my ovary was full of cysts and totally stuck to the bowel and I had two extra hours of surgery to remove all the adhesions and endometriosis - my ovary was not benign (my dr thought it was but the path report came back granulsoa cell tumor) but if yours was benign- THANK GOD and move on - consider it a major blessing. Still, keep in touch with us if you'd like, Hugs Chrrs
Hi, yes I can certainly see why you are concerned. I just dont understand why they dont do a preliminary pathology. That is good news that your surgeon said it looked benign. Hopefully he wouldnt be lying to you. I will send positive thoughts and prayers your way. You rest up and get better. Hugs Shannon
I am in England so only had a gyn doing surgery. I have no uterus, hysterectomy 4 years ago, didn't have endometriosis. I know that multiloculated and the fact that it was 12cm is a little more risky, my ca125 was 15 (0-17 is normal in my lab but also know that this is not a reliable indicator). I was found to have a very rare tumour last year and still have part of that deep inside my perineum and it's only because i persisted with research that it was diagnosed correctly as it was initially diagnosed as a different one. I take Tamoxifen for the remaining tumour, so you can see why i am a little reluctant to believe my surgeon when he said it 'looked' benign!
I had bilateral endometriomas (blood filled tumors) that were stuck to my bowel from ovaries and it was benign. Were they able to send off to pathology while you were in surgery? Usually they do a quick looksey before they sew you up. Glad you are feeling better! Take it easy still. Hugs Shannon
