Burping...sounds ridiculous, huh?

I have been to the doctor so many times I'm just tired of it. I can't get any answers. My hair is falling out and I have constant deep burping. When I look up indigestion it brings me to Ovarian cancer!????? I had a normal pap in April. I don't have any other symptoms really except that sometimes my lower back hurts. But the burping thing is really bothering me. Cuz they are really loud and gross! Any ideas?? Thanks...KAHILL

Paps are for cervix. Ovarian cancers are detected via ultrasound and other means...symptoms, etc. Right now I am dealing with severe nausea, spotting occasionally when I am in menopause...I am 49....I have lost over 20 in the last 6 weeks or so, I am weakened, feel sick and very full after just a few bites of food, burp frequently, crampy. I went to the ER yesterday. They did an abdo CT. Said things look god, that the radiologist said he saw what he "thinks" is a cyst on my one ovary that I have left...one as removed in 2002 due o multiple cysts.....but that I sure have it ultrasounded by my doctor to be sure. I am concerned. I can't lose a pound and now have lost this much without even trying! I have something called Sjogren's syndrome so I am also wondering abt other issues, too such as Gastroparesis. I have a history of reproductive garbage. Cervical dysplasia, cryo procedure for that, cyst on my cervix, my uterus is full of fibroadenomas and has been biopsied as well as my cervix.

When I was first diagnosed, in retrospect, I realized that I may have been having a sign all along.  I had noticed a few months earlier that I would belch, every night, whenever I would lay down to sleep but it would happen only when I layed down on my left side.  Not long after that I started to get a continuous crampy-like pain in my right shoulder which really got me to start bugging the doctor and was eventually diagnosed with stage IV ovarian cancer with metastases to my liver and spleen.

You may want to go have an  gyn abdominal ultrasound done, it could ascites in abdominal cavity.  Have had this problem too, it feels like pressure pushing up to my throat which now turned into a persistant dry cough.

I have the same issues, burping all the times, and sometimes combined with acid reflex, GERD.
I found a really good cure for GERD, acid relfex, the orange peel extract from life extention.
however, i am still burping.

I used to burp very severely, with vomiting, and nausea and stomach full of air, feel like something has to come out, and i would blow out a big big big BURP from my mouth, with tones of air, my stomach then felt emptied after the BIG BURP.

I don't have those BIG BURP anymore.  But, i am still burping, especially when i am sleeping at night.
also, when i burp, i feel some slight discomfort/pain, in the area of esophagus and throat.  I don't know what is wrong with me...

One of my symptoms was constant burping too, think they call acid reflex.   Was told by my GYNO to go see Gastro specialist, take ant-acid, change my diet, change my life style, maybe IBS...wasting lots of precious time only to come back to her!! Turned out I had fluid (from broken OC cancer cells floating) in my abdomen which was causing this. Luckily the cells did not attach themselves to other organs.  It stopped after my hysto and during chemo...Now it's back, been about 6 weeks, not as bad as before...Went to see my gyno who once again sent me off to see other specialist.  Now I am back to her for a ultasound so see if I have fluid build up in my abdomen again.
Ask your Gyno to do an ultrasound or TA.

I don't understand how these posts from 2005 even get on here. I didn't notice the date when I responded or I wouldn't have!!!

Have you seen a gastroenterologist for the burping and nausea?  It sounds to me like you might have something that a gastro doctor would treat, like acid reflux - I have a small hiatel hernia and when I drink coffee, I usually feel bad afterwards.  Maybe you should ask your GP about that?  Just a thought!

I was in third stage oc and the day I came home from hospital my pap test was laying there I opened it and it said normal. I had it done two weeks before diagnosed. Sometimes I don't know where those Docs got their degrees! Pap has nothing to do with the Ovaries.

I'm 41 also.  My symptoms, which have been going on for 1+ years are:
Nausea
Occasional Vomitting
Bad heartburn
BAD burping
Gas
bloating
Swelling on the right side
Periodic diarhea
Dull constant pain on lower right side
Occasional pain/numbness in right thigh
Low back pain\

Bummer.
I urge you to get an transvaginal/abdominal ultrasound.  If you don't have an ovarian cyst, you should then move on to have a colonoscopy -it could be a problem in your colon that is causing your discomfort.

Well, I haven't had any of the other sypmtoms except for the burping and the nausea. And I can't get my GP to take me seriously. It seems that it is all stress related to him. NOT. But the burping bothers me because I know it's gotta be cause by something. ANd it doesn't respond to Gas-X or any other antiacids that I have tried. Thanks for your info though. By the way are cyst dangerous and should I be concerned that it is more than a cyst? Thanks again!

The PAP has nothing to do with whether or not you have an ovarian cyst.  You should either go see on your own, or be referred by your GP to a good GYN that will do an ultrasound.  If you do, in fact, end up having a cyst, there are many ways to treat it - depending on what type of cyst it is, and how big.  Did your doctor perform a CA125 as part of the bloodtests?  This is a test that can, in some cases, help to determine if someone has ovarian cancer.  I didn't ask your age, but that is also important, because if you are premenopausal, cysts are much more common and most of the time benign.  Even if you're post menopausal, the majority of ovarian cysts are benign and very treatable.  With mine, they are going to do a laparoscopy (surgery thru the belly button), and hopefully remove the cyst that way.  If there are complications, they will have to change to a laparotomy (full abdominal incision) - yuck.  Please let me know if you have any more questions - it's really scary to know something is going on with your body and not know what it is!

Have you had a pelvic ultrasound to see if you have an ovarian cyst?  As I mentioned, that is what they finally diagnosed with me, & I have the burping also.

I did have an ultra sound and they said my gallbladder was fine. I had a pap in April that came back fine and they didn't mention anything about my ovaries at the time!?? I burp after I drink a cup of coffee or eat unless it's something really small. Should I be really concerned???????

Doesn't sound ridiculous to me.  I have that too. I also have a large ovarian cyst that will be taken out in October. Have you been tested for gall stones?  Burping is also a symptom of gall stones. Do you burp all the time, or is it worse when you have a heavy or fatty meal? Have you had an ultrasound to diagnose the possibility of an ovarian cyst or gall stones?  The low back pain could also be from a cyst.  My doc didn't think I had an ovarian cyst because he said that the pain was too high up, but lo and behold, that is what I have and it is pushing upward into other organs, creating the discomfort.  I wish you speed and luck in getting this diagnosed, because, unless you want to win a burping contest, it's no fun : )
