Do cysts ever go away?

Do they go away?  Why do we wait 3 months and do another US?  Is it because they go away?  If not, why do we wait.  Please advise.

I hope this eases your mind. I'm not Post-Menapausal, but I did just go yesterday and I've had two cysts on my left ovarie and two on my right. Both were Follicle and then in three months turned into Septated Complex Cysts. Well yesterday the right one was completely gone when she did my U/S and the left one ended up with more that two of the same cysts? So yes they do go away, I was surprised with them being Complex. But I'll be scheduled next week for a scope...debating?? She said things looked benign so I'm the type then leave it alone! But there might be Endometriosis or scar tissue growing around my ovaries and bowel, and that's what maybe causing all my pain. If they see anything through the scope, then they'll go in.
Hope I helped you some, like I said, I didn't realize a Complex Cyst could up and disapear...but it did :)

Yes, but what if  you're postmenopausal?

yeah, functional cysts can go away, they appear and disappear as part of your normal menstrual cycle. If it is any other type of cyst, as far as I can tell from the reading I have completed, it will not disappear but might not cause you any problems.
good luck
