Such great ideas to honor Donna. I would like to contribute to your place, Irene, so if you could let me know how, that would be great. Once again, Jan, thank you for all of your help, it has to have been so hard emotionally and physically on you, yet, you have been a Godsend. I do believe that was Donna in the mist. Love and hugs,Colleen
You can make donations to your local rehabilitation center if you want to instead. There aren't millions of them around like McD's :-) but you can check if it would be easier. For me, since I work in one and know what we do - treat about 3500 animals a year and run solely on donations - I know my money will be a big help.
I live so far from Donna but we did talk about animals occasionally. That was fun. Anyway, I work at the Audubon Society of Portland. We can't put information here but if you want, you can google it for information. Please don't think I'm fishing for money. I just wondered if it was OK to stray from the Humane Society route.
Ronni, that is a fantastic tribute!
As most of you know I live in Costa Rica.. it is a developing nation and poor. There are no shelters for the most part for animals except a couple for the entire country.. BUT there is a place where they rehabilitate all kinds of animals from howler monkeys to exotic birds to pumas and the like.. They are really in need of funds.. Yesterday I went over there and they are located in La Garita... I asked what they needed most and they said food for the animals.. So I asked one of the directors to take me where I could purchase what they needed... we did .
They asked for name.. I said this donation is in honor of Donna Marshall who just lost her battle with this disease... pointing to my tattoo.. Oh he says cancer de ovario.. Yes I say..Wow was I surprised... since pink is the color here.. But he lost a loved one also.. So dear Donna where ever you are many animals this morning are better and eating well... Love Ronni
I think that would be wonderful. I am sitting on Donna's deck looking at the mist over the lake and I can't imagine a more fitting tribute to her than a wildlife fund. She loved it here and it is easy to see why. I know this sounds stupid, drug induced, or just delusional, but I could have sworn that the mist on the lake formed the shape of a person about an hour ago, stayed that way for a few seconds and swirled away. I know Donna will always be watching over us.
Irene, I think that would be great.. Please email me the information so that I may contribute..You're right...most of the photos were of wildlife and I'm sure close to her heart.
Thanks for the suggestion,
Sandy
I personally think that is a perfect idea Irene!
I'm just asking here - so many of her photos were of the wildlife in her yard, the deer, bunnies and beaver and birds. Would it be OK to make a donation to the Audubon Wildlife Care Center where I work in her name? I would mark it for wildlife care only instead of Education or other departments. Or I can stick with the local Humane Society.
Yes... I will do the same as I know how she loved animals and as Cirella used to say about her photos "All things bright and beautiful" which was so true ! Her love of creatures was evident in each of her photographs.
Thanks Jan
Sandy
Thanks Jan, I will make a donation to our local humane society in honor of Donna Marshall.
