Leslee update

Les had her 5th doxil today, CA125 went up 24 points, up to 224 now.  Not too worried about the slow rise, but hoping the scan next month shows a lot of shrinkage in the lesions.  Her HGB was 15 and WBC was 3.4,  she is cutting back on her activity level and was told to take Aleve even if she wasn't hurting.  Says she still has periods of chemo brain, no periods of abdominal pain unless she does some lifting  like with her 25# grandson.  I feel she is holding her own right now, would have liked to see a big drop in the counts, but maybe next time.

How well I know. My last CA jumped from 157 to 177. It really bothered me as 157 was the lowest it had been in a year. But my onc laughed and said that it was nothing. So I'll try to not worry about it. Esp. since he said the lesions in my liver were getting smaller., and there was a thinning of my abdominal lining. That part I'm still not real familiar with as this has just become an issue in the past few months (when my CA hit 701 in July) It sounds like overall that she is doing better. I pray things contiue going well for her.  Chris

If it makes you feel better - my ca-125 was 6,000 when first diagnosed, after my surgery and 1st chemo treatment it was 195, after my 2nd treatment it went up to 240, I just had it checked (3rd treatment) it was 50! So many elements can effect the ca-125. Good luck on the scans! D

Even though it is not a big jump, I know how disappointed you both must be.  We don't like to hear of a rise, even a small one.  She sounds like she is holding her own though.  Chemo brain is so much fun isn't it.  I am glad she is without much pain but she should still be proactive about it.  You know that pain and nausea are best treated before they start.  Think good thoughts please; starting chemo again tomorrow.  Take care of you Miss Star

Marty,
That's not a huge rise in here CA125, but we all know that we like the numbers to go down. Good to hear that she is feeling well and is curbing her activity; she needs to take real good care and not get too run down.  I hope that her scans show minimal lesions and much shrinkage; as always you are both in my prayers.

Helen,
Good luck to you, too, with your scans next month, as well

Judie :)

As you say, the CA.125 only went up by 24 so it's not a big jump, which is good. Mine always goes by the 100s, so I would be grateful for ony 24. :-)  Glad to hear Leslee is feeling quite good, and I hope she gets really good news from the scans next month. I have scans on Friday... first ones since December last year.
Best wishes and lots of hugs to you and Leslee....Helen...
