Well I guess I should have stayed away for a while! :)

This shall be my last post on here and I'll possibly be shutting down the website as well pretty soon.  You all have been great during my mom's battle.

I hope you all succeed in your battle against this disease and that you don't forget the Maitake :) :) :)

I have to agree with Anna - Alan and Sam - you have both learned so much and have been such an important part in your mothers' battle as well as the battle that everyother women that has this disease is fighting.  We need help raising awareness, educating the population and fighting this horrid disease.  Take the time you need to grieve, but, don't give up the fight!!!!!  

Wishing you both the best of everything....and I hope that you are both around here and out there fighting this fight for a very long time.

Surely to goodness the best way to honour your mums memory is to continue the tireless research and inform other woman about this dreadfull disease. If one woman is saved due to your research efforts then your mothers death was not in vain. Alan I offend people on a regular basis - ask simplystar - it can't be helped due to the sensitive nature of the forum. Some people want facts, some people are not ready for facts and need hope no matter how tiny the odds. It takes years for proffesionals to learn how to tap into how much information a person can handle we are just regular people doing our best.

I believe what you are doing is part of the healing process and leaving is a big mistake,

just my opinion however you must do what is best for you - but I have been there!

I guess he won't be reading this, but he sure is an extraordinary guy.  All of our caregivers go through so much and he was really there for his mum.  I hope he is going to take some time for himself and just get away.   It is no small wonder he doesn't want to post anymore.  I hope he gets as far away from this as he can.

Just adding to the above, Alan - thanks for your wonderful contributions. It was one thing carrying out all the research for your mum but to then take the time to let us know what you had discovered was above and beyond the call of duty. You'll be missed but it is time for you to devote your amazing energy to something else.

I haven't been here long but have valued your opinion as much as anybody. As I have a son of my own who will one day be in your shoes, I have to say that I feel sure that you mother was more proud of you than she could ever say. You will be greatly missed but I too can understand you wanting to be done with this monster once and for all. The best of luck to you in all you do in life and may you find some of the happiness that this dreaded disease took from you. My thoughts and prayers will follow you always.  Chris

Dear Alan ...Thankyou for your input on this Forum...it's been much valued by us all, I'm sure. I can well understand you severing your ties here, as it's been a sad time for you, and now with your Mum's passing, hopefully Ovarian cancer will never enter your life again. It's been a harrowing time for you, but you always did your best for your dear Mum, and she would have appreciated it very much.
