HELP: Where to get the best cancer treatment

Hello,

My name is Susana, I am from Portugal, and my sister has a severe ovarian cancer in advance stage.

She has undergo surgery to remove the main tumor and is now going to install a nephrostomy tube to drain the kidney.

She is also doing new chemotherapy sessions, as the previous ones had not succeed.

My question is: can you please point me to the best, latest, most sucessfull treatments and hospitals/institutes I should address, worldwide, in order to help my beloved sister the best I can.

Thanks very much in advance for any help.

Susana

Hi Susana,

It may be a good idea to post on the doctor side of this forum. You click on ovarian cancer under Ask a doctor.

Also tell the doctor:
What kind of ovarian cancer she has
what stage
what drugs she has been on
and what ones she is on now.

Also tell her who did the operation. Was it a gynecologist or a gynecologist/oncologist?

Then your answer will be more specific. Usually Dr. Goodman answers and she is from Mass General in Boston. That is also a very good hospital.

This will be good to do now while deciding where to go.

Usually the first line drugs are Carbo/Taxol which work the best.

Best of luck with your sister.

Although I am here in the States, I have heard of 2 excellent hospitals in the UK.  Royal Marsden in London and Christies which I believe is near Manchester.

Best of luck to you and  your sister...remember that we are here to help in any way that we can.
