do you know

I had a partial hysterectomy 2 years ago. I now have 3 cysts on my ovaries. I small one on my left and 2 on my right, one being larger than the whole ovary. My right tube is also enlarged. I am scheduled for surgery at the end of the week. The dr. will attempt to do a laproscopy, but I have had several already and he said he may have to do an open surgery. I am nervous about the numerous cysts and especially the enlarged tube. Are these signs of ovarian cancer? Are there other reasons the tube would be enlarged? If I have open surgery for the removal of the ovary and the tube, is the recovery long? painful?

Since you have already had a partial, and now have multiple cysts, why not get rid of all the offending things at once. Recovery from a Laperotomy is approx 4 to 6 weeks, depends on the individual though,  this is major surgery no matter how you look at it.   He can take a good look around either way,  No diagnosis of cancer can be made except by a path report on the removed tissues.  You didn't say how old you are and whether you are pre-peri-or post menopause, a complete will send you into surgical menopause if you are not through it yet.  Good Luck on your surgery.
