hello every one,
my sister is suffering with this ovarian cancer. she has been at the fourth stage says my doctor. is the cancer curable. i got a site where i found some patients videos saying about their cure even after the fourth stage also with the intake of the natural and herbal dietary supplements.is that true, can the natural and herbal supplements cure the cancer. please if anyone could help in suggesting me by reading this site. this would be your favour for me if you do this and i would be really glad about your help. the site is http://www.drraomd.com/. help me as this is my last hope of my sister's survival.

I googled, yahooed and asked Jeeves about Folan 7 and found nothing on it. Why on earth are you bringing up a post that is two years old and hasn't been touched for a year? If you have something to say about supplements for cancer patients you should start a new post. Also, you should be sure of what you are writing before you write it.

- To the original poster, cancer is called 'cured' by medical standards typically if there is NED (No Evidence of Disease) 5 years plus. This does not mean that the cancer is *not* there anymore, just that counts and scans are normal. Even stage 4, there is 'curable' cases, that's why the general statistics show 10% or whatever it is.
- To hasansadiq, there is always other chemo treatments to take if she didn't like that one...some with less side effects. Many can tell you that 450 is not that high especially with those on this forum. The counts may or may not mean anything definite, they should be part of a workup that includes scans such as CT, PET, ultrasound, etc.
If she is dead set against chemo, then what is her wishes? To let it be or to pursue alternative treatments? There are plenty of threads on this forum about that including one I replied to recently.

My mom is 45 years old and she is suffering from this disease. She was operated 6 years back and the tumors were successfully removed. However now the Serum CA 125 cells have increased again. She went through 4 chemo cycles recently (i.e in May) for last two months the count was below normal (i.e. below 35 units), but the count has suddenly increased again its about 450 units. We are not sure what has to be done now. She also started herbal medicnes but the count seem to be increasing of late. Now that she is old and already gone thru several cycles of chemo, she doesnt want to take any more chemo as she says she cannnot handle it anymore. I'm not sure what can we do further. Please help me and guide me...
Does the increase in count necessary means that she has a cancer? i'm not so sure abt it..
Please do suggest something..

my daughter, Kelly with ovarian cancer has been tried alternative medicine . Kelly had terrible pains and bleeding from the cancer. Altho she has undergone many rounds of chemo and surgery, the cancer has come back a third time.
There seemed to be no other options, we we had to try
alternative meds. The remedies are from a practitioner

Hi Nelpe, thanks for your response. You were not wrong in anyway. I agree with you that treatment of cancer has to be a holistic approach - chemo, supplements, nutrition and exercise.
But it is quite subjective when we talk about supplements, nutrition and exercise. How much and how effective these things help to boost the immune system for non-recurrence or delay recurrence is not really known. I have come across books and reports of cancer survivors who have refused chemo and radiation treatment completely and chose a rigid diet and exercise plan
and have lived many years without recurrence. And at the same time there are many who have undergone chemo/radiation therapy, taken all kinds of supplements rich in vitamins and minerals, followed a strict diet and exercise plan....and had experienced painful recurrence sooner than expected! When I see my wife go thru' so much of pain and trauma....I just wish someone somewhere will come up with an effective vaccine to eradicate cancer on this earth once and for all.....

Hi Mahen59, Thanks for your opinions too. Still not sure of the tea, it sounds like it might be Essaic. I feel like the herbs, nutrition, exercise, and chemo will add years to one's life. What else can I say? I'm not trying to give anyone false hopes in herbs or "anything else." So sorry to anyone that read the post and thought I was against chemo and only for alternatives. I'm very sorry to hear about your sister. I am also in your boat. My sister has stage 3C. I went to the site that you suggested because I too believe in natural/herbs supplements or atleast taking them along with chemo. There are a few things that disturb me about the site. #1 This man couldn't possible be an expert at all those diseases and especially the cancers. I know my sister's first doctors recognized ovarian cancer but sent her to an GYN/ONC because they were not experts in that field. #2 Most of the people did not give their full names. If I found a cure for ovarian cancer I would shout it from the roof tops and back it up with my whole name, phone number, email address, and home address.
I still believe in natural cures though, where do all those medicines come from that the docs give? Most of them come form herbs. Hmmm...something to think about. I do hear about people changing their lifestyles, diet and exercise and boosting their immune systems to help fight cancer.

Hi Nelpe, thanks for your opinion and comments on natural and herbal supplements. The tea that you have referred - is it called Essaic Tea? Its a Canadian product. My wife was taking that and also Lentin Plus, a Japanese product - an extract of shitake mushroom and some special high grade rice - and comes in powder form packed in satchets. I believe it helped to boost her immune system bcos she was in remission for about 17 months. She was also taking spirulina, shark liver oil and a couple of other vitamins and supplements. But when she had recurrence, she became doubtful of all these herbal stuff! Don't get me wrong. I am not trying to discourage anyone from trying on some herbal and natural remedies. These herbal and natural supplements do not cure cancer but some of them may provide some sort of back-up to boost the immune system which could delay recurrence. I am strongly of the opinion that a balanced nutritious diet and regular exercise (including yoga & meditation) are definitely more beneficial than all these herbal preparations.
Hi, sorry to note about your sister's OVCA stage 4. This, I believe, is an advanced stage. What's the advise of her doctors? What's their specific opinion? Do they propose chemotherapy? I am not against natural or herbal remedies. But a lot of these do not have well documented proof of recovery. Of course they do talk about success stories which may or may not be true. My advise is your sister should not rush into anything natural and herbal which could prevent an effective response from any medication or treatment that her doctors propose. Many of these herbal and natural preparations do not interact well with doctors prescriptions and cause more harm and discomfort. If you are well convinced then get proper advise from the doctors treating your sister. Be strong and have faith in your prayers for your sister. (Btw, my wife is a OVCA survivor. She was diagnosed with stage 3c and has gone thru' several cycles of chemo. She is currently being treated for recurrence.)
