Back pain as first symptom

I have had problems with lower back pain and stiffness for the last few months, along with being bloated, constipated and having irregular periods. (I have an IUD). I can not sleep because of the throbbing pain after laying down for a while, my back stiffens completely. I had en Xray of the back - nothing-  had a few manipulations of the back - no improvement - and have been doing stretches and such for the back - nothing! A fiend suggested I get an US to look for fibroids, I asked my D.O. Doc about it (he has been treating the back pain) and I had one. They found that one ovary was swollen and they want me to wait until after I have a period to have another USm to see what it looks like then. Anyone else have the same symptoms? I am normally so calm, but I really am freaking out here, am I over-reacting or is my female intuition right on?

Not to scare you..I recently went in for a female exam for bleeding heavy.. my pelvic exam showed an enlarged uterus...my doc sent me for an US today..it showed several masses..enlarged ovaries.. free fluid.. I have been having terrible low back pain, and hip pain.  Also, I look pregnant..my belly is spongy feel.. that is the ascitis (free fluid).   Now, everything i read ..makes me feel like I possibly sat on my symptoms too long.. I pray that I don't have an cancer.  I hope your problems turn out to be negative.. and something that is easily fixable...best of luck.

Hi Niliam, the pain that you are having is just like the pain I suffer with. Ask your doctor about endometerosis or endometriomas. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon.

Some of your symptoms might be unwanted side effects of your IUD.  You should check the paperwork provided to you about your particular brand of IUD, or look for  this type of information on the internet.  Discuss these findings and your symptoms with your doctor.

The important thing is to follow up with your doctors.
