Dear Plady:
I think the answer to bowel obstruction is that when it happens they will have to operate. It is considered an emergency. We had been advised on this before.
For now we will have to allow Topotecan to work. It is true that bowel perforation can be a side effect of Avastin, but what choice do we have with this kind of cancer? My wife's cancer were or are matted in the intestines and everytime we have Avastin, I prayed that nothing will happen. Our Onc said that if perforations were to happen with my wife, it would have happened already, but it never did.
Her scans and x-ray shows no bowel obstruction and Avastin had a big role to play on that. We have to keep on praying.
