I just wanted to give an update - I finished up my 3rd chemo treatment (carbo/taxol) last Wed. I really felt the side effects this time around, but I am finally feeling better. I still have my colostomy and I think I will keep it until I finish up all rounds of chemo. My onc would rather we wait until the chemo is done - no need to put the body through another surgery while undergoing chemo. I have a PET/CAT scan scheduled for Nov 5th to check the progress of chemo. On Nov 7th I will have my regular dose of IV chemo, then on Nov 8th I will start the 1st round of IP chemo. I am still pretty nervous about the IP...but it's got to be done. My last ca-125 test was 50! Very pleased with this since the time before it was 240. Great news, having a decreasing CA-125 is super.  Your Onc probably won't want to reverse your colostomy until after you are done with the IP chemo.  It would affect the healing when they put the colon together and give you the chemo.  I wish IP chemo had hit the news when I was diagnosed, would have like to have had it.  Good luck, positive energy.

Hello Deandra...so good to hear from you again and I am glad things are looking up for you.  Chemo is not fun but it sounds as if you are handling it well.  I hope you get great news on the 5th....please do keep us posted.....I have my fingers and toes crossed for you!

Hi Deandra....That is great news, and I hope you can keep going into a long remission. :-)
Just a little hint Deandra... make sure you are 'cancer free' before your have the reversal operation. Your Oncol/Surgeon would be the best to guide you to make the right decision. My Doctors wouldn't operate unless I'd had 12 months without cancer, but it didn't happen, so no operation for me. :-(
They said that it was to ensure that the cancer wasn't lurking around, ready to strike again after another operation. A friend of mine has had IP chemo, and while she said it's not a bed of roses, it was well worth it, so good luck with that.
