I had some Tegaderm over my small incisions. Tegaderm is almost like artificial skin, reminds me of plastic wrap. If I remember correctly I removed mine after about 3 days. It sticks quite tightly and is tricky to remove. More difficult than the standard bandaid because it's so thin. Under that the incisions each had a couple of stitches as well so nothing was going to pop open.
I agree - it might be best to call your doctor's office and ask for post surgery instructions. Someone at the hospital should have given you a list before you left.
Hi,
I'm surprised the surgeon didn't give you instructions, before you remove ANYTHING, I'd recommend that you call his office and get instructions.
I had double hernia surgery and waa told that the tapes over the incision had to stay in place for a couple of weeks.
He said they'd probably start washing off in the shower.
I saw the surgeon a week after surgery, and he removed the plastic tapes over all of the lap. "poke holes".
Make the call to your surgeon and get that concern off your mind.
Good luck and be well.
