Could it be cancerous?

My mother has been suffering from menstrual abnormalities. After having an ultrasound scan a solid cystic area showed up measuring 6cm in diameter within the right ovary. They have decided to proceed with a CT scan on her abdomena and pelvis and clood test for CA125. She has not been told whether it is ovarian cancer or just a dermoid cyst. Also she mentions that she feels no pain from the cyst. So is it benign? Is it cancerous. Please could you all advise me. Im very worried about my mother. I would like to hear more about other women's experiences of ovarian cysts/cancer.

Thank you.

Hello,

I think that the only thing you can do is wait for the tests. Until then no-one can say what the problem may be.  It is not necessarily ovarian cancer.

Best wishes to your mother that she is OK,

Ruth
