A hernia repair,  if necessary is not usually a very difficult surgery. Most hernias have to be repaired to prevent strangulation of an organ.  Two separate issues here, the cancer and the hernia, one has nothing to do with the other. If your friend can stand the surgical repain , then she should do it to prevent any furthur damage.  Good Luck

How high are these CA125 readings. I just had one Wednesday, had CT scan yesterday and going for consult Tuesday. Suspect cancer, but no biopsies yet. Started with some side pain in August, thought I had appendicitis, but had a gyn check up and since then been going through tests.

I know in cases where CA125 is going up and CT shows nothing that doctors prescribe a Pet Scan.

I hope the hernia relieves her pain. Thank God there is nothing showing in Cat Scan. Did they do a chest, abdominal, pelvic?

This is very rare and not to scare you. But to make you aware. Mine was going up and later I found out it first metastized to the brain. It does happen but about a 2 percent rarity. I had a lot of symptoms that led up to this. The symptoms depend on where in the brain it is. Mine were peripheral vision, then total breakdown where I found myself in capable of doing things. Initially I thought it was my new eyeglass prescription
I needed.

Best of luck with her surgery. Do that first.

I wish they could have removed my herinia!  It drives me nuts.  I am so glad the CT scan looks good, but doesn't make sense if the CA125 is still high.  They told me the possibility of there being a tumor or scar tissue may cause problems of they remoed the hernia.  Be sure and ask lots of quetions.  Good lcuk.  Yvonne
