question about symptoms

i posted in the ask a doctor forum, but i have a question for you all.

the reason i have been wondering about my ovaries is that the first symptoms i was having - something i'd never had before - was a feeling of fullness.  the area i am talking about though is right underneath my ribcage in the centre, i guess where my solar plexus is.

my question is - where is the 'fullness' normally felt?  it feels as though i have undigested food there and i feel nauseous.  i am not sure whether my nerves are contributing to this feeling of nausea - i think it's definitely putting me off my food.

i am just about mid-cycle and am having what i am guessing to be, ovulation pains on my left ovary - at least that's the kind of pain i've had before.

last night i had bad fluey pains - aches in my elbows, etc.  i do have a history of having these pains before though - last year i had terrible fibromyalgia-type pains, but they went after a few months.

i've had an hsg in march and a trans-vaginal ultrasound in may.  nothing of great significance was found.  the 'string of pearls' that tell me that i have pcos (diagnosed back in 1990) and a few very small fibroids.

i have regular periods and i do ovulate.

can someone just shed some light on this?

just to let you know, i am very jumpy about the topic of cancer. i have fibroadenomas (benign breast lumps) and so i've had a few scares in that department already.

I am experiencing the same type of fullness as you describe.  I'd gained about 10 lbs and my first call was to my GYN b/c I know that my DHEA (adrenal gland functions) were off according to a saliva hormonal test I'd done in June.  I thought it was my thyroid.  He immediately ordered a CA125 and vaginal ultrasound along with the thyroid test.  All came back normal, except for a couple of small follicular cysts on my remaining ovary, left side and some diverticulosis.  My right ovary was removed Nov '06 along with a cyst.

I've been to a GI Specialist, had an endoscopy and will have a stomach emptying test done next week.  Star, you are wise...I do have a hiatal hernia.  I didn't get the impression from the doctor that it was causing the fullness, though.  The scan will tell, I'm sure.  I'm told I could have Gastroparesis, which is a sluggish stomach.  There are varying degrees of it depending on how fast or slow the stomach empties.

I'm also going to see a Family Dr.  I think I need a complete blood work up.  It hasn't been done in a long time.

Because of my history with the cyst and endometriosis I still have a nagging feeling that it's my ovary.  Maybe b/c I've already been through that.  I didn't have the fullness thing back then, though.

Good luck!

You might get checked for a Hiatal hernia,  that can cause the "full feeling" when the stomach pushes through the diaphram.
