is it normal to have ups and downs after surgery?!

Hello,
So yesterday was day 6 post laporoscopy to remove right ovary and cyst, and I felt great!!! I did a few bits and pieces, was really upbeat and happy all day! Even took the dog for a little walk!

Today,I'm feeling down, I'm hurting, and to top it off, my stitches have to be looked at tomorrow because they're not coming out on their own and every time I try, the incision starts to hurt and bleed!

Is this normal to have ups and downs in recovery? Please don't say I just did too much, all I did was wash a few dishes, did one load of laundry, washed 3 windows, took the dog for a walk, and made dinner for my 3 children yesterday - hardly a heavy day of work or moving about!

I'm feeling just so frustrated! I thought every day I'd be feeling a bit better, that it would build on top of every day. Instead, it feels like one step forward, two steps back. Anyone else feel like that?

It is very normal to have ups and downs after a surgery.  When they mess with your ovaries, it can cause you to have disruptions in your hormones, thus, the ups and downs.  I too have to agree that you may have done a tad bit too much.  I was told I was not to do any laundry for 2 weeks after my laprascopic surgery.  You may feel great on the outside, but the inside needs more time to heal.  When do you get your stitches looked at?  I'm glad that you are doing that.  I think you are more sore today because you probably did more yesterday that you have done in the last 6 days.  Be patient with yourself.  Get plenty of rest and treat yourself as the queen you are.

Whether you want to hear it or not -  "you did too much".  I'm 4 weeks post Laporoscopy and I still occasionally have some problems.  You need to remember that its not just the 3 small incisions on the outside - they removed some of your organs and they need lots of time to heal.  Also, as my surgeon pointed out to me - the anesthesia itself is a shock to the body, as all your systems are basically shut down during the surgery - so your body is going to need lots of time to get over this and heal itself.  6 DAYS IS NOT A LONG TIME AFTER MAJOR SURGERY.

Hope you get better as fast as possible, but please limit what you do so your healing time can be reduced.

Take care.
