Possible ovarian cyst but scared to death...

So I'm absolutely terrified right now.
I have been having vaginal bleeding for over a month and I've never been more scared in my life. It all started back in January when I saw dark brown staining, just very little, and thought it was old blood. I had my period that month like normal. In February, my period came and was heavy (as it always is) on the 6th but on the 20th I noticed clear discharge with streaks of blood after having painful menstrual like cramps. I have had it since.
I have had a pap smear which came back normal (thank goodness) and bloodwork but my bloodwork came back a little abnormal with signs of an infection or inflammation. It wasn't VERY abnormal, the doctor asked me if I had allergies which don't. My gyno thinks its a possible ovarian cyst but I'm so scared of the C word. I had back pain two days ago that the doctor now thinks is a kidney infection. What's going on with me???
I am 25 and I know most cysts are benign but I just got over severe depression and now that I want to live my life, I'm scared that something is threatening that. I am living with extreme anxiety and hypochondria and have been since last year when I lost most of my close family in the span of four months.

Thank you so so much for your reply!! I just got off or am in the process of getting off my period for March. I didn't bleed for apart a whole day and now it's back this morning. I did start crying over it, I will admit. I really hope it's a simple cyst. I read that caffeine can contribute to cyst growth and I drink a looooooot, I actually work at Starbucks. I know the chances are low for cancer but that thought keeps coming up. I was recently diagnosed with a bladder infection an my doctor says that can affect my whole body but I just want this to be over...

Also, I think that clear discharge with streaks of blood could also be a sign of fibroids....if I remember right??

For your peace of mind, I would probably just call the doctor, let him know your pain is worse, you are worried and would really like to have an ultrasound now.  I think that following up now may help.  Waiting is hard!

Typically cysts will resolve themselves after a couple of cycles if they are functional cysts.  I would definitely follow up with the ultrasound if your pain continues.  If it is a cyst, the doctor may just recommend watchful waiting to see if it will go away on it's own.  Often they will do a follow up ultrasound in 6-8 weeks.

I know how stressful this can be!  I had a 14 cm cyst removed 2 years ago and have had several smaller ones that have resolved since.  I currently have another that is growing and I follow up next week.  If it is still there, I am getting it removed, as well because it is causing me so much pain.  I know it is easier said than done, but try not t worry too much.  Most cysts, especially before menopause are benign.

Also, cysts can cause back or hip pains at times, so all the pains you are having could be related.  I have pain in my lower back, hip and upper legs.  It is also worth noting that uterine fibroids can cause pain and bleeding and sometimes brownish, or old blood.  Fibroids can be detected on ultrasound and are benign growths.  I have a fibroid in addition to my cyst, so I know this pain all too well.

Just follow up with your doctor and know that many of us have been through this.  Most of the time, these things are very treatable and benign.  I'll be thinking of you...keep me posted!

I can also add that I have I have felt fine otherwise, but have been under extreme stress for some time. The doctor has told me that we are waiting to see if this is my period and if it stops, but if it does not I will be doing an ultrasound to see. I'm just terrified this could be something worse. Everyone has assured me that it's most likely a cyst and even though I could need surgery, I will be fine but my anxiety is getting the best of me.
