HELP!!!!

Hi, I hope someone can help me? I am 36 years old with three children all by c-section. I was diagnosed in August 2008 with a left ovarian cyst 5cm +, since then have had regular ultrasounds and transvaginal the last one being 11th December 2008 which I was told the cyst has now slightly changed and has a membrane running through it? With excessive ovarian tissue and the ovary is completley now covered by the cyst and has placed itself behind the womb? There is also a fibroid? I am due to have surgery in January and this scan was to check the cyst hadn't disappeared. What I would like to know is what does it mean that a membrane is running through the cyst? And is it anything to be concerned about? I was told that the report would be sent that day and the hopsital would be in touch and I can't help worrying that this means something is wrong!!! If anyone could please help to put my mind at rest I would be very grateful.
Many thanks.

Hi there,
Like Trudie said, 95% of cysts are benign. I had cysts/lesions on both ovaries. Mine too developed septations with doppler blood flow to parts of the cysts. This just means the cysts have changed. Your doc is staying right on top of things which is great. My cysts all came out benign. I know the waiting and wondering what is growing is absolutley frightening. We have all been there. If it is anything, chances are it has been caught really early which is absolutley wonderful. Stay on top of this and keep us posted.
Good luck and feel better

It sounds like your cyst is now septated.  It is possible it always was but was not identified on your initial exam.  Don't worry about the fibroid - most women do have them and they are only a problem if they are too large or causing excessive menstrual bleeding.  Do keep in mind that over 95% of all cysts are benign.  It is good that you are having surgery.  Please keep us updated.
