I am so glad that your surgery was successful and you are recovering so well.  Your period could be delayed because of the hormonal imbalance of surgery.  It may take a few cycles for your period to get back on track.  Keep resting when you need to, that is one of the main keys to a complete recovery!

Hi ladies hope all is well with you and i came back to work today, had the laporoscopy on the the 15th to have the fluid on my right ovary and it was successful and i went back on the 21st and gynae said my organs are perfect and I couldn't walk properly the next 2 days after being discharged. i don't know if its my body but i was often tired/sleepy and took a week at home to recover.i'm still taking it easy though as i'm not lifting any heavy stuff or working hard as yet because i still feel pains on the incision areas sometimes.

i'm so glad i got that out of my way but my concern is that i was supposed to have my periods arount the 24th and i didn't.
Is it because my body is maybe reacting to the operation thus the delay????

Women with one ovary get pregnant all the time.  If the doctor has to take your ovary, your other ovary will take over and function for both ovaries.  Keep in mind that this may take a few cycles to happen.  You may notice for a few months that your hormones seem off, and that is because they are.  Of course, none of us can tell you that you will definitely be able to get pregnant, as we couldn't tell anyone that.  I would call up your doctor and ask him what he thinks.  I think you will be fine, it may just take a bit to get pregnant.  Good luck on your surgery and please let us know how you are doing!!

PS, if you are going to have a pre-op appointment, you could talk about this with your doctor then :-)

Hi there,

Most women with ovarian cysts still ovulate on a monthly basis. Of course this depends on your particular situation. However, your fertility is most likely not affected by the cyst, nor will it be put in jeopardy by the surgery. Should the surgeon have to remove your ovary, your other ovary can and will take over on your monthly cycles. Good luck on your procedure and I hope for a speedy recovery. I will post you a forum posting that will greatly aid you in a second.
