Cysts are very common and most of them do go away on their own with time.  Did your doctor indicate if it was simple (fluid filled) or complex (solid parts)?  A cyst under 5cm is usually monitored regularly to be sure it is not growing or changing.   Cysts that are complex and over 5cm have a greater chance of being malignant.  Doctors usually recommend removing them surgically when they reach 5cm or larger.  Try not to worry though.  Most cysts do turn out to be benign (even complex large ones).  Your doctor will take into account your symptoms, age and medical history when deciding your follow-up plan.  I hope your cyst resolves soon.  The wait in the meantime can be stressful.  This forum is filled with many wonderful ladies who have great info. to share.  Welcome to the forum!
