PCOS + Ovarian Cyst + Clomid

I am 30 and was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 18.
I also got a 5cm complex cyst on my right ovary and its been there for almost 3-4 years now.
I am ttc and my questions are
1. is it safe to take Clomid?
2. Can Clomid cause increase in the size of the cyst?
I have consulted 2 RE's, one suggested that I should get the cyst removed before continuing the fertility treatment and the other said that I can start Clomid immediately, as Clomid cause increase in the size of only functional cysts.
I am really confused and would really appreciate any thoughts/suggestions.

Thanks in advance

First off, a complex cyst is the most worrisome kind although still 95% are benign.  They can't be sure unless it is removed.  Only a doctor can tell you if it will affect your abilities to conceive or miscarriage.

Thanks for the response TrudieC.
Just curious to know how complex cyst would interfere when ttc.
I don't feel anything from this cyst. Its been there for a while now.

It is not good to leave a complex cyst untreated, and especially at that size.  I think (and I'm not a doctor) that you should have it removed before ttc.  Clomid can cause cysts and it makes sense that they would be functional.
