Surgery all done

Hi everyone out there who have helped me through this.  I had my surgery last Monday 5 July.  They took out the football sized cyst, plus a hysterectomy and another procedure called an omentectomy and lots of biopsies done the results which will be available in a week or two.  I am hoping that everything is OK.  He is pretty sure that the cyst had a cancerous part to it, so we have to wait and see.  The surgery itself went really well though.  I was nauseous for about 12 hours after but the day after I was walking up and down the corridors and by Thursday we were on our way home.  I have felt great and getting around really well.  I am surprised at how the pain management is achieved and to what degree.  I must admit I was terrified at the thought of surgery, but it wasn't just the surgery as I have a real phobia of hospitals.  The doctors and nurses were fantastic though,  and the doctor actually told me that when I had a D & C when I was just a kid 16 or 17, they actually botched the procedure and made a hole in the uterus which was "fixed"  by abdominal surgery, but back then you didn't question doctors, you just followed their reasoning and believed everything they said.  He said the second surgery was terrible too as my uterus had become "glued" to the bowel.  He couldn't believe that I hadn't had symptoms before this and still had kids following this later on in life.

Thanks to everyone out there who supported me through this.  I don't think I could have gotten through this without you guys.  God Bless you all.  Linda x

My biopsies took over 3 weeks! The wait is the worst part, I had a similair tumor removed in April which was borderline malignant but all other biospies clear. Did they tell you type of cyst it was or what it consisted of ? Mine was a mucinous cyst- sounds digusting doesn't it?

Good luck for your tests results

Thank you so much for all the support you have shown me, I really don't think I could have held it together for as long as I did prior to surgery, although I did have a melt down just prior to going down to OR.  But beyond that it has been a good healing process.  You guys are the best.  It is good to talk with people who have been through the same experience you are going through.  Unless someone has been through this, they really can't understand, so thank you so much everyone for your support.  Couldn't have done it without you.

Hi LInda:
Glad your surgery is over and hoping all the  best for you.  I had my surgery of June 18th and have found that each day is a chance to heal.  Enjoy the beautiful sights and sounds of summer.

Hi Linda,

I am so glad to hear the update.  It sounds like you are recovering well.   Hopefully, the final pathology will fool your doctor and all will be benign!  Please keep us posted!  I hope you continue to feel better each day!

Hi Linda
So glad your surgery went well.  I am having the same type of surgery on Tuesday.  At 24cm I think my cyst might be like yours in size.  I'm 67, so they are going to take out all the junk parts that I no longer need.
Like you, I'm pretty terrified about having the surgery, but there are no other choices.

I hope mine goes as well as yours.  The fact they kept your pain very well managed is great.  How many days were you hospitalized?

Contine to have a speedy recovery.  I hear that we'll never miss the junk parts, and we should feel better than we have for a long time.  I'm hoping that's true for all of us.
