I couldn't even imagine having a cyst on my ovary for 10 years. The minute I saw elevated testosterone and thinning hair, I knew exactly what you were talking about. Please, get yourself tested for a disease called Polycystic Ovarian Disease. I was diagnosed with it just over a year ago, on blood tests, my hormones seem to be normal except for my ovulatory levels however I have weight gain, i have started to get acne (which i have never had), I have over 10 mature cysts within the last 2-3 years and i have excess hair growth. Please get yourself tested, and regardless of whether or not your blood work comes back normal - ask to be referred to an endocrinologist. Symptoms sometimes speak louder than tests. My doctor has told me on numerous occasions that the blood test for pcos can come back normal quite often however some patients do have quite severe polycystic.
Good luck and keep us informed!
Hi! Well, honey, you're not alone. There are a lot of women out there with your problem, including me :) Oh, I mean :(...he he. but there IS hope. Try talking to your doctor about a different form of treatment. Have they diagnosed you with PCOS or not? A lot of women with cysts or PCOS have elevated testosterone levels and therefore, have excessive hair, thinning hair, etc. Losing weight and other meds help control the symptoms. Talk to your doctor. If you don't feel that they give you the attention you need, please look for another doctor that will :) Good luck!
