Hello Sonya:
Can you share what you have learned since January? I have a 2.4 cm complex cyst on my left ovary. I am scheduling surgery for April 20th to have it and the left ovary removed. I will be discussing the procedure with my doctor later today.
Did your doctor recommend removal?
Susan
CA125 blood test can pick up ovarian cancers (but not in all cases, it can give false postivies and false negatives, so its not always accurate).
I was found with a 10cm complex cyst in my right ovary end of November, all my blood work was fine, they ended up draining the cyst (long story but I dont think they should have drained it)and now its showing as completely solid on ultrasound - 7cm. I am having it removed completely a week tomorrow. It can be worrying and the waiting in the hard part, I know! But 95% of cysts are benign, but still its hard not to worry. There are alot of great women on this forum who give great advice and we are all going through same experience and can make you feel at ease.
Hi thanks for reply. Doc sending me for another scan in around four wks. Have informed them of family history. They took bloods for markers to be on safe side but im not quite sure what thats for!
Hi there, what have the doctors advised you? They normally dont remove them untill they grow to 5cm or more. However you need to advise them of your family history, as there can be an increased risk if your mother had ovarian cancer. They may remove it on this basis before it grows any bigger.
