What use for the non-skid socks once the patient is moved to the ward?

I just went through a dermoid laparotomy surgery.
I did not bring the slippers because somebody told me the ward had their slippers.
When I was moved from the recovery room to the ward, I asked the nurse about the slippers.
The nurse it was the non-skid socks.

I was confused.
I saw many patients used their own slippers.
Then what use for the non-skid socks?

The non-skid socks are quite effective on their own merits.  Besides preventing slip and fall accidents, they can be a substitute for slippers for any patient that forgets to bring their own.

A lot of patients slip and fall in hospitals.  I think they provide non skid socks to limit their liability for further injury!

So you mean, actually there is no specially benefits to use non-skid socks without slippers.
As you know, wearing non-skid socks was quite difficulty for me at that time. Finally I gave up wearing non-skid socks after the first day in the ward.

You will often be moving around your room (even just getting out of bed) without slippers and they can help to protect you.  The hospital I was in didn't provide anything.
