large ovarian cyst what will happen next?

Hi Im Cher im 31 years old with 3 children
I have been suffering lately with back pain and bowel problems so was sent for an MRI, i got the results back saturday saying that i have a 'very large cyst on my ovary' so had to go and see my GP yesterday to be referred to a gynaecologist. She said that as i have had an MRI i wont need an ultrasound but will need to have a sample taken from it. Was wondering if anyone knows how this woyuld be done and if anyone might have any ideas what this cyst could be?
Many Thanks
Cher

Did they mention how large it was? Even large cysts are often benign. I had a 10 cm cyst removed and it was fine. I'm glad to hear they're following up, doing the necessary tests. They generally don't know for sure until they do a biopsy or remove it for testing. I know the waiting is difficult but the odds are in your favor. Let us know if we can help.

Hi Cher,

Does your doctor know what kind of cyst it is?  That will go some way in determining what kind of treatment you receive.
