ovarian cyst.

Hello everyone. im 14 years old and on the 31st or july i had an operation to remove an ovarian cyst that was in my tummy on my right side. at first me and my mum thought it was period pains because my period was coming up but then the pain was even worse and a week later we went to the hospital. The doctors thought it was my apendix and they didnt think at all it would be an ovarian cyst. When i had the operation the doctors said that if its my apendix the operation will take one hour and if they find something else it will take longer than one hour. So the operation took 3 hours. They found a rupturred ovarian cyst and they took out my apendix anyway just to save myself from future pain if my apendix did need taking out. So like 2 days after the operation i went home. I was sore but fine for about 3 days and then the same pain i had before the operation came back again, so we went to the hospital and the stupid doctor said it was hunger pains because i was really skinny at the time and didn't eat at all. So my mum was really angry and we went home, and later that day we went back again because the pain was so bad and they said i should go to my GP so my GP could refer back to the hospital, so they discharged us again and thats exactly what we done. That was the next day. So later that day the pain was too much i was shaking,i was hot and cold, i felt sick and dizzy so i went BACK to the hospital and they admitted me for once and i stayed in for 48 hours. I had an ultra sound and they couldnt find anything, they said everything was normal. So i got discharged on Monday and i was having bad bad pain throughout the week so i went back into hospital on friday that week and got admitted again, for 24hours. I was extremely skinny only weighing 40 stone i think it was, because im already naturally skinny it was really worrying i was turning anerexic. So i got discharged on a Monday, and then i went into hospital on a Friday AGAIN the same week. So i stayed for 48hours again and had another ultrasound and they said everything seems normal. So basically here i am know, i was abosloutely fine for one week, i went out with my friends, i was dancing laughing, and know as i am typing the pain is slowly creeping up again. I havent stopped feeling sick ever since before i had the operation, so i take stemitil. The doctors gave me omeprazole i think it is called for the acid in my tummy, incase there is acid and they gave me anti biotics incause i have an infection, Theyre giving me all these meds because they're not sure what it is. Stemitil helps only sometimes for the sickness to go, but omperazole just makes me feel even more sick and i feel like im going to throw up. I havent stopped feeling sick ever since before the operation, and im becoming really angry and upset. I dont care about the pain i just want to stop feeling sick. Im only 14 i dont want to be feeling like this for the rest of my life. Someone please give me advice and help me. My mum is booking me in to see a weight specialist because i have lost so much weight, and i have a GP appointment. but they dont know what to do so i might have to do an MRI scan. Someone please give me adivce, is all this pain just part of the recovery process and is feeling sick part of the recovery process or isit something different? i had a scan where i had to drink water because i was too young to do the other scan and the woman said im just bloated and i hsould cut down on eating bread and rice. The pain is like sharp pain mainly on my left side and really uncomfortable in the middle. Sometimes the pain goes to my chest and its tight gripping pain to the point its hard to breathe. The pain sometimes spread to the sides of my back, and when the pain is intense i have really bad migranes. Please help me, like i said im only 14 and i just want to be a normal teenager again.

You can buy some stool softeners over the counter at Walmart or anywhere.  It does not need to be prescribed.  Your doctors did you a disservice in not telling you to take them anyway as it's not like you had likely been on the pain meds very long when you left the hospital.

Hope it's just stool-related!

i was on codeine and they said that could cause constipation, so they waited for me to go to the toilet,if not they said they would give me laxitives, it was very hard when i went. im still getting hard stools now.

1) Were you on pain pills? And are you still on them?
2) Were you given stool softeners and did you take them?

Pain pills given following surgery run the risk of causing constipation, which can cause really bad pain, especially if you're still healing.

I would think initially you would have the normal pain from surgery, assuming this was laparoscopic and the blew your abdomen up with gas.  It takes a while to pass that gas.  Additionally, you get constipated from the anesthesia and pain medications.  I would suggest you take magnesium citrate to speed up your digestion and stop the pain pills if you are taking them.  You can take Metamucil or even a laxative like Ex Lax to get things moving.

Monitor your temperature every day to see if you have an infection.  An infection after surgery requires a call to the surgeon.

If you are done with antibiotics, start a probiotic to help your body get your natural flora back.  If these measures do not help within three days, see the surgeon.

Well if the pain is in your pelvic area you could possibly have endometriosis, endo can only be diagnosed through surgery as it cannot be seen on X-ray ultrasound, MRI, etc. endo pain can be mild to excruciating. Endo can also cause a whole host of other medical problems. I was diagnosed with endo why I was in my early 20's but I suffered from it way before I was ever diagnosed. Everybody said oh it's just really bad periods but that was not the case. I hope that you will be able to find out something soon, please keep me posted.
