Dangerous?

I want to first off say that I'm unsure as to whether or not I actually have an ovarian cyst.
A little less than a month ago, I had an abdominal and pelvic ultra-sound for pains I had been having in my lower stomach. The pains are recurring and stay for about a week and a half at a time. Also, I've been going pee more frequently for the past while. Anyways, my doctor's office recently called me to book an appointment for a followup of the ultra-sound. When I asked if there was anything wrong, she said that one of my ovaries was bigger than the other. So, I was wondering if this meant I had an ovarian cyst? Or could it be something worse, like ovarian cancer? I'm very worried that I'll be told I won't be able to have children (I'm only 18), or that I have a life threatening disease. Should I be worried? I would really appreciate any input on my situation. Thank you in advance.

Sandy,
I thank you very much for sharing your views with me. I feel a lot better to know cysts are common and usually benign. In all honesty, I feel much more assured and I'll definitely be worrying less.
My appointment is next Thursday in the AM, and I will be sure to update you on what I find out. I was also pretty surprised that she told me why the doctor needed to see me, though I'm glad I've had a chance to somewhat prepare myself for the appointment (with much thanks to your help).
So, again, thank you very much! You have no idea how much I appreciate this!

I know this is really difficult--waiting for an appointment, but that's the only thing that I can think of for you to do. Remember something; if you have a cyst, they are very common and 95 % benign.  You're quite  young and chances are very very small that you have Ovarian Cancer. (not impossible of course) but very very slim.

As hard as the waiting is, please try not to worry.. If you do have a cyst, there are ways to manage that without affecting your fertility. When is your appointment? Frankly I''m a little surprised the office even went into any sort of detail with you. She should have simply stated that the Dr. just wanted to go over the US results with you. All this has done is cause you worry and stress.. probably over nothing.

Try to get your mind off of this and let us know after you see your Dr.

Take care,
Sandy
