Welcome to the community. I am sorry you are dealing with this.

The fact that the cyst is septated would indicate that it is likely complex. The good news is that most ovarian cysts, even complex ones, are benign. And many cysts resolve on their own in 2 to 3 cycles but complex ones are less likely to do so.

If you do not have a family history of ovarian cancer then your lifetime risk is less than 2% (1.4% per U.S. government statistics).

If the cyst needs to be surgically removed, it is best to have a surgeon with good cystectomy skills so that JUST the cyst can be removed versus the whole ovary. The ovaries (as well as the uterus) have LIFELONG non-reproductive functions with intact women's ovaries producing hormones into their 80's for optimal health.

Unfortunately, FAR too many women in the U.S. and some other countries lose their ovary(ies) and/or uteri unnecessarily. Only about 2% of hysterectomies and oophorectomies in the U.S. are done for a cancer diagnosis.

I was over-treated for a large complex ovarian cyst 9 years ago at age 49. My gynecologist whom I had respected for 20 years removed both ovaries, my uterus, and tubes even though the frozen section done while I was in the operating room was benign.

The vital functions of these organs quickly became apparent even though I was close to menopause. I aged horrifically fast and my figure / pelvic integrity (spine, hips, rib cage) were destroyed when all those uterine ligaments were cut.

Let us know what you find out. And try to remain calm as fear can make for hasty and bad decisions. Sending healing thoughts....
