Ok, let us know once you see your doctor. Take care and hang in there :)
I havent heard back yet. I have an appointment with my doctor on Tuesday so if he calls before than it's bad news. I will post as soon as I hear anything. Thanks.
I am glad that you made it through the CT scan. Did you get your results and some answers?

So I just returned home & it was just like you said... although I wasnt prepared for drinking so much of the Barium - after I did drink it everything else was pretty much a breeze... it was like I had invested in the test and there were no 2nd thoughts :) The greatest thing happened though - as I was trying to drink it with the straw a nice older German lady came over and told me not to use the straw, that she had to do it last week and drinking it straight down was easier... well it gets better (sort of) she explained to me that she had just been through a breast cancer fight and was now looking into neck pain... I shared with her that my German grandma had also just battled breast cancer ... it turns out both of them went through the war and both of them have very similar personal stories & are the same age - so I exchanged numbers and hopefully they can support each other!!! Pretty cool, it's amazing where God puts you and how that affects people beyond you... what a blessing.
Just letting you know that I recently had an emergency CT (maybe that is better - no time to think of it) and it is exactly like Trudie says, you drink the stuff, they take you in, you will feel like you just peed, but you didn't, and then it is over. I was very nervous, but now that I have been through it, I wouldn't be nervous the next time. It was a piece of cake. Let us know how you do!!
I had alot of the same symptoms you describe it your post. I went to the ER with intense pain one afternoon. The Dr. did an EKG, X-rays, pelvic ultrasound and a CT-scan. I had never has a CT=scan before. Trudie explained it perfectly. I could feel the dye they injected into my IV spread through my body. It was the weirdest feeling I ever experienced. It did not hurt or even feel uncomfortable, just strange. The diagnosed me with a dermoid cyst. It is a cyst that is made up of teeth, hair and bone tissue. Sounds yucky, huh? Wow, I experience ALL the same symptoms you do, except for the weight gain. I think I have not gained weight because most of the time I am afraid to eat because my bowel movements are so painful! I do not drink very much at all but when I do I feel so much more crampy the next morning!! My husband told me alcohol does not have anything to do with it!!! He is the one who is crazy, not me! LOL. You will be fine, you will feel better after they can tell you exactly what is causing all your pain. I have not had surgery yet; hopefully sometime near the end of the month, I will. I still deal with alot of pain but mentally, I feel a little less stressed because I know what is going on in my body now! I was told 98% of ovarian cysts are benign!!! That is good news! The best of luck to you!!!!!
Thank you thank you thank you! You are amazing. I slept for a few hours last night and now feel so much more prepared going in. I'll keep you updated for sure.
Cysts most definitely can cause the type of symptoms you are describing and I had most of them before my surgery. I am so happy now that the pain is gone, the swelling is disappearing and my weight is getting back to pre-cyst. Some days I limped because the pain was so bad in my groin and leg.
Don't be afraid of your CT scan. They will ask you to drink some chalky liquid (it has improved over the years and isn't too bad), wait a bit and then bring you in. They will insert an IV and then just before they do the scan they will put the iodine in the IV. For just a minute or two it will feel warm all over your body and especially in your groin. You might feel like you peed yourself but you haven't. Then as quickly as it came it goes away. The scan is painless and quick after that.
Yes, many men don't want to deal with something possibly being wrong with their wife. They just can't bear the thought that there is a risk of losing you. He also may be the type that doesn't want to worry until he knows for sure that there is something to worry about. My husband didn't really want to hear too much as I was going through the cyst thing. He pretty much didn't believe it until I really bloated up. He kept pretty much out of the diagnostic stage but was oh so supportive when I went for surgery. Later I found out that he was just petrified that I had cancer and wouldn't even believe me when I told him it was so unlikely since 95% of cysts are benign and that mine was a simple fluid filled one. He had kept all this inside and had been researching the subject on his own without telling me.
Please don't think the worst. Relax. Please do keep us posted on how the CT scan turns out. Don't freak out if your doctor does use terms like mass or tumour. These are just synonyms for cysts and get used interchangeably. Do find out from him the size and type of cyst (if that is what is going on) that gets identified. Then you have knowledge to come back here with and we will do all we can to help educate you and support you.
Take care,
Trudie
