The tendon in the back is the peroneus brevis tendon and that is the one that ruptured on me earlier this year.
I think you should take Tuck's advice and see your doctor and get an MRI.
Good Luck
thanks for the information, so i dosn't have anything to do with walking as i had walked for an hour before my physiotherpy and then an hour and twenty mins after to get home could this have caused this. And Red i dont think i had any ligament problem but i do have excess scar tissue at the back of my foot near the tendent.
I didn't realize I was giving advice to a minor. I usually check first. I am slipping in my old age.
Hello Bob,
Welcome to the Pain Mangement Forum. I am sorry to hear about the continued pain in your ankle. Have you discussed this with your parents? If not I encourage you to do so.
Usually stinging or burning pain is related to nerve pain, which cannot be seen on an x-ray, although sometimes it will provide an indication of an abnormal bone structure that may contribute to nerve entrapment.
An EMG can be definitively in diagnosing nerve injury or entrapment. Sometimes an MRI is often ordered to look closer at an old or new injury or structure also.
Best of luck to you,
Tuck
I am having the exact same problem right now. I had ankle reconstruction surgery in February and started having this stinging, electric shock type sensation when applying weight on my foot last week.
I had an x-ray yesterday but the surgeon didn't say he saw anything and told me if it continues he is going to send me for an EMG to check for nerve damage.
Did you damage any ligaments or tendons when you broke your ankle?
