Melissa
So sorry to hear about the misery! I hope that you are able to take a nap today and get some rest and a break from the pain. I have no idea what it's like to go through what you're going through, but I am thinking of you and praying that it'll all pass well and you won't feel bad.
I am so sorry this is happening to you.. So not fair. You were just a little bad. I do the same thing knowing what will happen. It is so hard not to. You've not had much other than liquids and when you see real food, not liquid or mush, it always looks so good.
I hope you've got plenty of pain and nausea pills. Yuck. I know what you're going through. And it is awful. You poor thing, Let me know how you're doing later today.
Sara
I am so sorry your in so much pain! I am not one that cares for pizza but I do eat it from time to time as my girls love it of course.
I have been up all night, can't sleep. I have too much on my mind. Night time seems to be the time the brain starts to work hard at reminding you of all you have to worry about.
Anyway I hope you feel better soon.
We had an all night cafe awhile back maybe we should bring that back:)
Misery loves company is correct - :)
Honey, I hope that it's ONLY 24 hours this time!!! I'm concentrating on that time frame for you and I hope that your body gets the MESSAGE!!!
Tuck, do you really think that some of this could be what you are experiencing? I never thought that I would say this to ANYONE, but that might be good in your case IF that is part of your problem as it wouldn't necessarily be from your hernia that can't be fixed (if I read it the right way)!!
Good Luck tonight!! I'm STILL thinking of you and sending Prayers your way,,,,Sherry
Forgot to ask - what are the two of you doing up so late? Looks like I'm not the only one having a crappy night. Misery loves company. :-)
I'm too busy being angry with myself to feel sorry for myself. I know better! After ten years of living on liquids - I KNOW BETTER. 99% of the time I'm not even tempted by that junk. I can watch DH chow down on anything you care to name and it doesn't bother me one bit. I can sit in a restaurant and eat what amounts to baby food and not bat an eye. Tonight, I was feeling so good after rehearsal I didn't even think. Just swiped that pizza right out of the box and got half of it in me before I even realized what I was doing.
Tuck, when I get obstructed like this it can be anywhere from 24 hours to 5 days before I decompress. There's no way to tell so I can only wait and stay well-hydrated. Sometimes it just happens with no obvious food culprit, but I can always count on it when I eat something like pizza. Partial small bowel obstruction is a constant in my life. It's just a matter of degree on any given day.
I've often wondered if you had bowel involvement with your mesh-related adhesions. Welcome to the obstruction club with me and Sara! Your symptoms are exactly the same as ours. My normal weight should be 140 and I'm 5'9". If I'm lucky, I run about 120, and usually more like 115. I look like a pregnant praying mantis with my currently bloated gut. I actually feel lucky that my problematic adhesions are mostly URQ and small bowel adhesions. The surgeon seems to have taken care of the large bowel adhesions when he did the sigmoid resection a few years ago. Knock wood - all is quiet in the pelvic region.
Bad as things are with the small bowel, I have to say pelvic adhesions were far more painful and interfered a great deal more with daily living. Hint: don't take fiber and don't eat foods that contain a lot of non-soluble fiber. That's just asking for a major obstruction event that can take days to resolve. I'll bet you money that when your surgeon goes back in, he'll say the same thing mine did. "It was just a big old sloppy mess in there." LOL! Any news on a date or even if they're willing to do anything surgically? For your sake I hope it's sooner rather than later. I wouldn't wish this misery on anyone. The pain is one thing, but add in constant nausea, the soft or outright liquid diet that still manages to come right back up occasionally, no possible way to predict or control it and to me that spells m-i-s-e-r-y. Pain alone I could deal with without too much trouble, but nausea and vomiting? My worst nightmare!
I am so sorry that you are having a terrible night. You have to admit that Pizza can be tempting...but it's usually never worth it. Do we ever learn??
I too have to be so careful with what I eat since the recent "injury" to my adhesion and mesh filled abdominal/pelvic cavity. Reading your post just put it all together for me. No one told me this horrible bloating and pain could be in part from my massive adhesions. You describe some of my symptoms to a T.
I've lost 34 lbs in 2 months but I look like I have a right sided, 7 month pregnancy. I look pretty freaky. :)
I hope you'll soon feel better....my acute symptoms usually lasts for 3-4 hours.
It's okay, you can feel sorry for yourself.
Oh my Dear,
I'm so very sorry that you are having to go through this. I can only imagine the excruciating pain that you are experiencing now!!
I know that you feel like kicking yourself but sometimes we all go through periods of idiocy and wonder "what was I thinking" when it's already to late and the damage has been done.
I hope and pray that you can get relief SOONER than usual after your "Pizza adventure". From what you have said I'm assuming that it definitely WASN'T worth it!! :(
Jaybay, your in my thoughts and prayers and I hope that we get some positive updates from you tomorrow!!!
PLEASE feel better, Dear Friend..........Sherry
